Michelle's Story
We first learned about Michelle when Pastor Matt Henderson reached out about a woman and her dog who had been living in her car in the parking lot of Clarkesville Presbyterian Church. Our volunteers met with her and began learning more about her situation.
Michelle had recently lost stable housing following complications with her apartment during a renovation process. With limited income from a disability check and no nearby family support, she found herself without a place to stay.
Our team began providing meals and consistent check-ins while working to identify housing options. Like many in similar situations, Michelle faced long waiting lists for income-based housing, making immediate placement difficult. Even so, we continued pursuing opportunities through local partners and service providers.
Through ongoing conversations and relationship-building, we were able to better understand Michelle’s needs and connect her with additional support. Community partners played an important role in exploring options for more stable, long-term care, while our volunteers remained a steady source of encouragement and practical help.
Eventually, through a combination of persistence and local connections, Michelle was offered a place to stay at an RV park in Cleveland. The property owner, committed to helping individuals in crisis, provided Michelle with a camper in exchange for helping with small tasks around the property.
Today, Michelle has a safe place to stay and the opportunity to regain stability. Her story is a reminder of how consistent support and compassionate partnerships can make a meaningful difference during times of uncertainty.
