Mark's Story

Mark was one of the first individuals we met on December 1, 2023, as we began building relationships with those experiencing homelessness in our community. We first connected with him at the Lord’s Help Soup Kitchen, where we regularly meet individuals for conversation, support, and next steps.

At the time, Mark had very little support and was living outdoors near Fieldale. Our team began walking alongside him, learning his story and identifying ways to help him move toward stability. Around the same time, a former mentor from Mark’s past reconnected with him and began visiting regularly—providing meals, encouragement, and consistent support.

Through persistence and strong community partnerships, Mark was able to secure part-time employment with a local restaurant and catering company. This opportunity gave him a source of income and a renewed sense of purpose. With what he earned, he was able to purchase a bike and other basic necessities, helping him navigate daily life more independently.

In addition to employment, volunteers and community partners have played a key role in supporting Mark’s stability. He has access to showers through the local aquatic center and can regularly wash his clothes thanks to the generosity of a local laundromat owner. These consistent touchpoints have helped him maintain dignity and routine.

More recently, we have assisted Mark in taking steps toward long-term career development by applying for welding classes and financial aid at North Georgia Technical College. Our goal is to continue supporting Mark as he builds a more stable and independent future.
